How to be a better Husband/Wife?

Praise be to Allah.

Islam has enjoined upon the husband duties towards his wife, and vice versa, and among these duties are some which are shared by both husband and wife.

Here are some things that need to be mentioned.

Typical Bad Muslim Husband-Wife Relationships

Numerous Muslim married couples treat each other like enemies instead of accomplices. The spouse feels that he is the chief, and anything he says goes.

The spouse feels that she should extract all that she can from her better half. A few spouses never show their significant other that they are happy with anything he does or purchases for them to fool him into doing and purchasing more.

They cause him to feel like a disappointment in the event that he doesn't give them the way of life that their loved ones appreciate. A few spouses talk cruelly to their wives, embarrass them, and even genuinely misuse them. Their spouses have no voice or assessment in the family.

The Rights of Muslim Husband & Wife

A husband is commanded by the law of Allah to treat his wife with equity, to respect her feelings, and show her kindness and consideration, especially if he has any other wife. Nevertheless, the man may not be able to be fair and just in terms of love.

The wife has financial rights over her husband, which are the mahr (dowry), spending and accommodation. She has non-financial rights, such as fair division between co-wives, being treated in a decent and reasonable manner, and not being treated in a harmful way by her husband.
